• Non-filing IT return

Sir/Madam,

I received notice from IT Dept. regarding no filling of IT return.

Information Code
1. CIB-514         -   interest paid by cooperative credit society
2. TDS-194A      -  TDS return - other interest (Section 194A)

I would like to ask is whether I need to file the IT return as I have no income.(I am housewife)

Also I would like to ask is what should be put under the TAB -  information relates to    for these 2 codes mentioned above.

it is better to file it returns as TDS is deducted on your deposits.

And give reply.

Hello Sir, since you have not filed return and this interest on fdr from bank has been shown and tds is deducted on your PAN. Therefore, as you are saying there is no taxable income then to claim the TDS you should file the return.

From a long term perspective, It is best that you file your income tax return. even if there is no taxable income. In case you plan to file return, you could select the "return under preparation" option.

Your income and notice pertains to which AY?? IT file can be prepared depending upon complexity of your transactions. If there are not much issues, we could do the needfull in a day or so.

Please donot do it on your own and avail expert services to file compliance in IT website.

Hello Aniruddha,

As TDS is deducted so it is preferable to file your IT returns even if your income is not taxable.

Secondly, it is in your benefit to file the the IT return as you may get the TDS amount as refund as you are not liable for tax.

You can select Not liable to tax under the tab.

In your case TDS is deducted so it is preferable to file your ITR even if you have no income. you can take TDS amount as refund as you are not liable for tax.

You can select in tax status tax refundable.

Technically speaking, you dont need to file ITR if your income is below minimum slab (Currently it is INR 2,50,000)
