• I am starting a drop shipping business

I need gst number for advertising my products on facebook. So how to get gst number? I dont have any other business like sole proprietorship, company or partnership or anything else. Plus i am thinking its good to open a private company for this dropshipping thing but i dont have enough money for that. So right now can you tell me the cheapest and easiset option to get gst and start this dropshipping business

What exactly is my dropship module?
 1. Customer visits my webstore and places an order, say for $10. The customer then receives an electronic invoice by email with my store name saying that the order has been confirmed.
2. I take the order and customer details and forward the order to my supplier based in China and I pay them wholesale price and shipping cost, say $5.
3. The supplier then ships the order to the final customer.
4. Customer receives the package with no invoices.
5. I keep the $5 profit.

Hi

GST registration can be done simply through GST portal. We may help you with GST registration.

You can work under your own PAN. There is no requirement of company formation of partnership firm for GST purposes. However, the payment gateways may require business name registration.

What's your customer base? Is it only outside India or in India too?

How the China supplier shall invoice? To the customer or you?

But you said your website shall invoice the customer electronically.

If you are issuing invoices, you need to charge GST in the invoices. GST rate shall depend on what product you're selling.

If the supplier is invoicing the customer, then it's a complete different scenario.

We can discuss further over the drop shipping business effects on GST. It may be done here. But a private conversation shall better for understanding.

Dear Sir,

I can help you in obtaining GST No. at nominal charges. You can start the business initially by sole proprietorship which does not need any registration. For sale in India, you need to charge GST and for export you need to obtain LUT for export without payment of taxes.

Who will pay custom duty on your products?

Thanks

Hi,

Hope you are dong well !

I think there is some misunderstanding in module.

First, please reconfirm your drop ship module then,we will help you in registration of GST.

However, you can also apply for GST registration through GST online portal in your name at very reasonable rate.

For domestic sale, you need to raise invoice on customer with applicable GST charges.

For export, you should apply for Letter of undertaking (LUT) for export without payment of taxes/GST.

Hi

I am assuming that invoice will be raised by china Supplier on the customer directly.

If that's the case, you are acting as an intermediary and you will be liable to get compulsory GST registration.

You will have to pay 18% IGST on your commission (sale price to customer minus purchase price from supplier).

Here are the few points as per your dropshipping business -

a) First of all to accept the payments you need the Payment gateway on your website so if you go with the paypal india or any international payment gateway, they required the documents.

so you have to just register your company with the new gst registration 4 under the export & open a current bank account.

b) Now if you are doing simply dropshipping but you can charge the commission as mediator from the sellers so if sellers are from India then you have to charge the GST.

c) if your sellers are listed on the aliexpress and you directly order throughout them then its not proper dropshipping. because dropshipping is like where you contact directly to the sellers.

So Ultimate GST is charge only on the commission from sellers in case of drop shipping business if sellers are from India. Hope now your points has been cleared.

Note - Remember once you opt GST Registration then you have to follow regular legal compliance like GST Return Filings 3 etc.
