Hi

Which engineering college is it?

Please check the donation receipt. The section under which deduction for donation shall be available would be mentioned on the receipt.

Its totally depends upon the institution whether its fall under 50% category or 100%. Generally these institution falls under 50% category.

Further if you are filing Quick ITR/online Web Mode then just select 50% or 100% category as mentioned on receipt issued by engineering college society and portal will calculate deduction automatically.

The section and % of deductions is usually mentioned on the donation receipt itself. However generally if the institution is eligible, it is u/s 80 G and 50% is allowed subject to maximum of 10% of gross taxable income.

Hope that clarifies.

If there is nothing mentioned in the donation receipt then it's not eligible for deduction.

Dear Sir,

Section under which it would be available as deduction is mentioned on the receipt. Please check the receipt of the donation and accordingly apply the percentage subject to 10% of adjusted total income.

Thanks
