• Revised return filed same day when intimation u/s 143(1) was issued

I am non resident - for asst year 2018-19, my income is below taxable limit and there is refund of 11000/- on account of tds from bank interest.

by mistake I filed ITR 1 on 28th Dec 2018, which is only for residents from ay 2018 - 19.

I filed revised return form 2, showing status as non resident and also claiming deduction u/s 80TTA for bank interest which was not claimed in the original return on 5th Jan 2019 and e verified on 6th Jan 2019. It is appearing in income tax records.

Meanwhile I received intimation u/s143(1 ) dated 5th Jan 2019 on 8th Jan 2019.

I understand that a revised return can be filed even after intimation u/s 143(1)

What should I do ?

Dear Sir,

You can simply reply to notice saying that you have already filed revised return.

There is no need to worry.

Hi

Yes, you could revise the return of income even when an intimation under section 143(1) was generated. There is no issue.

Hi

sir revised returns after due date (31 aug 2018) not allowed or won’t be processed at CPC.

check your 143(1) what it says first, if not ok then we should file rectification request to correct ITR particulars.

filing revised return is not solution.

Go through the intimation and check for which return you have received that intimation. What is the purpose of that intimation?

In general sense revised return replaces the original return so just wait for a while and meanwhile you can request intimation again and check whether they are issuing intimation against revised return or original return. In the revised return have you mentioned the details of original return?

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

You may wait for sometime for knowing the status of the processing of your revised return. Depending upon how your revised return was considered by the CPC, you may choose to seek revision of assessment/rectification or even raise a grievance.
