• Gst registration

Hi, I am engaged in retailing of hardware & plumbing items which I started in late 2017 based out in Delhi but as of now I don't own a shop/outlet except that I hold stock (not in bulk) of such items, estimated closing stock on 31 march 2019 comes out be 2 lacs.
I have set up this business with the help of a close relative of mine who is engaged in a similar business but on a large scale (wholesale) so I am making purchases with them and I retail it to few customers like plumbers, carpenters, machinist etc.
In FY 2018-19 my estimated turnover was 12 lacs. I don't keep regular books of accounts.
Now as per my Aadhaar which is on records with the Tax Department and with Banks, my address proof is of Nagaland state (I moved in to Delhi in mid 2017) and since then I haven't updated my current address. Though I am living with my relatives I did execute a rent agreement apart form that on all other important documents my address is of Nagaland state (my parents are resident there)
Do I need to register for GST?

Dear Sir,

Hope you are doing well !!

Everyone whose taxable turnover exceeds 20 lakhs needs to obtain GST registration .

So, you are not required to register for GST unless your taxable turnover exceeds 20 lakhs.

No eventhough your personal identification is of Nagaland because of which the limit of GST comes to 10 lakh but since you are doing business in Delhi you will attract limit of Delhi as GST registration depends on the place of business entity and therefore if any questions asked you will have to prove that your business entity is located in Delhi and therefore you don't require GST.

If you need any help in income tax return filing do let me know.

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

Hi

Since you're doing business in Delhi, the turnover of limit of Delhi shall apply i.e. 20 lacs. The limit of Nagaland shall not apply.

You don't need to register under GST till your turnover is within 20 lacs.

- As your place of business is in delhi, threshold limit for GST registration is Rs. 40 lacs. Once you crossed this limit then you will be liable for GST registration.

Hi,

No, you do not need to register for GST.

Once your business aggregate turnover in a financial year exceeds Rs 40 lakhs then you will have to mandatorily register under Goods and Services Tax.

No you are not required to register for GST. It is required if t/o increases above 40lac.

What we can decipher from your info is your PAN is registered in Nagaland state. It will be better if you change your address of PAN to Delhi.

Since delhi is a bigger place so for such small amt you wont face any query also.

Since your turnover is not more than the specified limit (For previous financial year 20 Lacs), therefore you are not required to get yourself registered under GST.

Thanks.
