• Invoice

Hello Sir/Madam,
I am going to start a tea repacking business and I want to keep the MRP 100 (suppose) and distribute it at a discount of 10% to the retail shops as their margin. Please let me know how would I prepare the invoice with the retail shop.
Asked 5 years ago in GST

You will prepare the invoice at 90 because you are selling them at ₹90 and you will charge GST on ₹90 for which they will claim credit and sell product on 100 and this 100 will be inclusive of GST. So they will calculate GST amount claim credit of GST charged by you and will pay balance amount if any.

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

MRP is the cost for ultimate consumer sold by the retailer. I think you are working as a distributor and selling to retailer. In your invoice you need to show sale price including discount and then deduct discount separately. 10% discount given by you is margin for retailer for which you don't need to do anything. In case of MRP, reverse calculation of GST is to be done. You should calculate your effective sale price and then calculate the reverse GST on it.

Suppose MRP is Rs.100 and you are selling at 90 to retailer then you need to calculate reverse GST on Rs.90 i.e. 90/118*18=13.72, so GST will be Rs.13.72. In your invoice you can show taxable value Rs.76.28 and GST Rs.13.72.

Hi

You can show the invoice as:

MRP              100

Less: Discount 10

Net                  90

Alternatively, you can directly invoice the retailers at 90; there's no issue.
