Is honorarium paid to employees is taxable
Asked 5 years ago in Income Tax

Hi,

It can be paid in cash. It is full taxable.

Honorarium income can be shown under the head "other sources" and offered to tax where total income income including it is greater than the non taxable limit.

No expense should be paid in cash to one person in one paid in excess of 10000. If it's in excess of 2 lakh it shall also be taxable in hands of receiver.

Yes the honorarium will be taxable in the hands on employee as income from other sources.

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

If you claim the honorarium paid to employee you can't claim it as expense if it's 10000 paid in a day to one employee u/s 40A(3).

It will also be taxed in the hands of receipient u/s 269ST if the amount is more than 2 lakh in one day in cash.

Hello Sir,

A payment in the nature of Honorarium can be made in Cash. However it is advisable to pay via non-cash mode.

Taxability :  Honorarium is generally considered as taxable income and is taxable under the head "' Income from Other Sources''. But if the same has been paid to employees then, it shall treated as salary income in the hands of employees.

Thanks
