• Joining Bonus returned

Hi Payal,

Hope you are doing good.

I have a situation where, I left my previous organisation and had to return the joining bonus.
However the TDS was deducted and the source for the joining bonus, but As per the policy I had to pay entire amount including the TDS to the employer.

Now, that I have returned the amount, will be be eligible to get the refund on that TDS ?

Thanks,

It would be better if you ask your previous employer to reverse the TDS and pay you the TDS amount back.

If not just take Form 16 and a copy of your agreement which says you need pay your employer bonus plus TDS.

Then while filing return show TDS amount as income and claim that TDS.

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

Yes, you can claim the refund while filing your income tax return of the TDS amount paid back to the employer.

Hi,

unfortunately you will not be able to get refund of TDS. Even if you calim refund, it will be very litigative.

Dear Sir,

Hope you are doing well !!

Yes, you can claim refund but subject to litigation.

We need sufficient proof to claim the same.
