• Bill Split

I paid Rs 1.5 lakh club bill for two of my friends from my bank account, Now they want to return the money to me in my bank account will it be taxable? Will I have any issues as i have lost the bill copy but in my bank statement it can clearly be seen where the money has been spent...They are returning the money within 2-3 days.

Hi,

There is no issue in this and it will not be taxable. If you want to be extra cautious, you can just document this over an email between you and your friend.

Hi, it is better to retrieve and keep the copy of the bill to prove the trail in future. If you are having your own business, it will be difficult to differentiate between business and such non business dealings

IN this case Club amount Paid by you from your debit card, should be treated as reimbursement of expenses that you have paid with intention of getting this amount recovered from your friend. Hence it should not form part of your Income and you can take that money back.

If there is a debit and credit of the same amount there will be no issue.
