• Demand under section 254

I am a pensionar
i submitted my IT return for ass.yr.13-14 on 21july13 and got a order on 18 sept 13
now i have received a revised order DT. 06 JUN 16 with demand of Rs.24090 due to withdrawl of TDS credit by the deductor which i agree with.
i am partially agree with the demand The revised order is showing I tax paid as rs.74682 whereas the AS26 for the same year shows it rs.77596 which is correct showing Rs.2914 less than actualy paid as per AS 26
thus there is difference of Rs.2914
thus actual demand shuld Rs. 24090-rs. 2914=Rs.21176
i have submitted the online response to IT deptt as above BUT NO RESPONSE RECEIVED FROM IT DEPTT
now what shuld i do?
shuld i deposit rs.21176 as demand??

Sir we think that the demand amount include interest. Please get the revised Order and check.

First check the order as after payment of 21176 you will again receive demand for balance amount. First get it rectified

In your notice of doing demamd, you must have received the bifurcation of tax interest and penalty if any.

You have to show to same in challan

Dear Sir,

On the basis of information provided by you it appears that you have received a demand notice from the IT department which according to you is part correct and now you wish to pay the taxes.

In such a case to pay the respective tax if you may scrutinise your demand notice the IT department would have specified the quantum of tax, interest etc. You can mention the same in your challan.

Trust this clarifies your query.

Please feel free to call/ get back in case of any further clarifications.

Thanking You.
