• Need help with PF query if I am working for multiple companies

Due to the Current financial situation brought on to by COVID, my current salary is not sufficient to take care of my well being, and i was recently approached by another company for a Job opportunity,

My current employer is deducting PF and I have Single UAN number, so before taking up that opportunity i wanted to understand weather if i share this UAN and EPF number to the new company will they be able to track the contributions made by my other employer? And if they do not agree to take the EPF number from my current employer and insist they will create a new one, will having two active EPF account cause a problem?

Dear Sir,

Hope you are doing well !!

As per the law at the time of registration under PF itself, there is one UAN number which is allotted to you. That is a Unique number given against the PAN of every individual applying.

In such case, there cannot be two registrations that can be done. Secondly, to claim the benefits of PF contribution with two or more companies, you will have to share the same UAN number with the other company also where in they can record the contribution.

Hence both the companies can extend you the benefits of PF but on the same PF account.

However, a person can’t work as a whole time employee in 2 company but he can work in 1 company as full time & in other company as part time.

If you are a part time employee in other company. Then you can have 2 pf account under single UAN

but you need to keep in mind that because you have 2 pf account under single UAN then there are chances that pf department will look into your account

What you need to do Is that you need  to have appointment letter of both company showing as par time time & full time employee. So that if any query arises you can show it to them.

My second opinion is that you can talk to ur employer & if possible then you can show ur part time job as consultancy & and ask your employer to deduct TDS.

We may assist you in entire procedure.

It is advisable to take a phone consultation for detailed discussion.

Thanks & Regards,

- PF No.is unique to every employer. It is generated and allotted by the employer to the employee. All PF No.'s are mapped to UAN. Keeping more than one UAN is not allowed. Yes one employer can see the contribution made by other employer.

Yes, you may mention them to use the existing PF number from my current employer subject to your employment conditions.

- mention only UAN basis on which they will see all the PF accounts attached to it. No need to provide PF No.

Dear Sir

You can share the old UAN number and will benefit you only. The new employer will know nothing from your existing UAN number about your previous employment history.

Ideally, you should carry forward the OLD UAN in the new employment also.

Trust this clarifies.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes, once you give your UAN, they may come to know about your current active employment.

Further, they will create new PF account for you but the new PF will also be linked to the same UAN.

Please note that I am not sure whether dual employment is allowed in India. Do take advise from a lawyer dealing in employment matters before selecting dual employment.
