• Extension of 148 date

I heard that power to issue a notice under Section 148 is extended till 30th Sep for some cases and in some cases, it's 30th June. the language written is technical. I don't have anything open. Can I destroy documents that are pertaining to year AY 14-15 and backwards or I need to still keep them till September 30th?

I need this clarity as I'm an NRI and keeping all these documents is a big headache.

No it can only be opened till 30.06.21 but if your assessed income exceeds Rs. 50 lakh it can be opened till 10 years but if you are confident there won't be such case you can remove them.

Hope you find the information helpful if you do please rate it 5 and provide your valuable feedback for my improvement.

Thank you

- As 6 years have been elapsed as on 31.03.2021 for A.Y. 2014-15,  last date for issue of notice was 31.03.2021. 30.09.2021 is the last date for issue of order where time limit expires was on 31.03.2021. I recommend to retain the records for some more time.
