Thank you Vivek , what documentations are required along with acknowledgement form ?
- Copy of sale deed/Agreement to sell ,seller and buyer PAN, Original Form 26QB filed, Power of Attorney etc.
Since your Form 26QB correction request is showing "Pending AO Approval", the next step involves manual verification by the Jurisdictional Assessing Officer (TDS).
As you're an NRI and cannot appear personally or assign someone immediately, here’s what you can do:
Prepare the following documents:
Acknowledgement of correction request
Original Form 26QB filed
Registered Sale Deed / Agreement to Sell
PAN of buyer and seller
Proof of correct amount paid (e.g., bank statement)
Letter addressed to AO requesting approval
Once ready, you must appoint a representative in India via Power of Attorney (PoA):
Get the PoA notarised and apostilled in the UK
Courier the original to your representative in India
Your representative or hired CA can then visit the AO office and submit the documents.
Unfortunately, there’s no online process to complete AO approval — it must be handled in person.
You can write to your Assessing Officer (AO) explaining your NRI status and request remote processing of the correction.
Include:
A formal request letter (PDF signed by you).
Copy of PAN card (buyer).
Copy of original 26QB and correction request.
Registered acknowledgement number.
Proof of correct payment (bank statement or sale deed).
Subject: Request for Remote Approval – Correction Request on Form 26QB (Pending AO Approval)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a Non-Resident Indian and had filed Form 26QB for TDS on property transaction. A correction request (acknowledgement no: ________) has been submitted to update the “Amount Paid to Seller” field, which was earlier entered incorrectly.
The correct TDS has been deposited and this is a rectification of clerical nature. The request is now pending AO approval, but as I am residing abroad and unable to appear physically or appoint a representative currently, I kindly request your assistance in approving the correction remotely.
Please find attached the necessary documents for your reference.
I shall be grateful for your support in this matter.
Warm regards,
