• Demand paid what next

Demand was asked for u/s 143(1) after ITR4 return was found defective and not fixed, in AY 2013-14.

Notice (Jan 2015) said this demand was to be looked upon as demand u/s 156 (or was that u/s154?) and to be paid within 30 days.

Within 30 days I paid the demand under the heading "assessment 100" and it is showing in 26AS.

But return of 2013-14 in efiling is still stuck in "demand determined".

What to do? Now that I have paid the demand should the status in efiling not be clear?

From the efiling site:

Refund/Demand Status:
AY 2013-14 "demand determined"

Hi,

you have paid demand under wrong type of payment

you have paid under Advance tax (100)

it should have been paid under Regular assessment(400)

that is why it is still reflecting in your site.

time limit to get type of payment option rectified. is 3 months.

you can contact your assessing officer who is authorized under the departmental OLTAS application to make such correction in challan data in genuine cases, to enable correct credit of the taxes paid, to the concerned assessee account.

or else you can make fresh payment by choosing relevant assessment year and 400 -payment option

Sir beside the Demand status do find any reason or payment mode. There is any link is coming, if yes the click on the same and submit answer. If not then you need to contact your jurisdictional officer and get rectified the same.

Sir if no demand is showing online as you said it vanished, then your demand paid is being taken care and thus no demand .

In future you will not get any notice regarding the demand.

Hi,

there is no issue, and nothing is to do done,

refund and demand status site show only the status of each assessment,

for other years it must have been mentioned that no refund no demand.

generally it does not mention payment mode of demand by assessee.

if it is not showing any pending action from your side, it means that demand is not due any more.

Dear Sir

If you have paid the taxes in the correct head (400) and no demand is showing in your account, no need to worry about it.

Please feel free to call/revert in case you require any additional clarification on the above.

Thanks and Regards
