• Too much Demand from CPC for an old Return

Hi Taxfull team

I've filed 2013-14 tax in 2014 itself. It was having 23600 tax to be paid, But i forgot about it. around 3 months ago i got an intimation that i need to revise / update. I resubmitted the same return without any change on 19/09/2016. Today when i checked my income tax online website its showng me Rs.2,37,000 to be paid as "Demand from CPC".

I logged today to pay 23400 if i've got a response / update. I'm shocked to see this number. Please help and suggest me how can i avoid this huge demand.

Thanks

If after all the things the same is not solved then contact your Income tax officer

Hello Sir, I think it may be possible that there was some error while revising the return. Please pay the amount of Tax first and then only you should revise the return.

If the return is filed showing tax payable then it can be considered as default u/s 139. If your computation of tax is correct then you will have tax payable as per earlier return with interest thereon till the date of payment. If you have any queries, you can get in touch and we can discuss it further.
