• Income tax on AdSense

Hi, i'm a student and earning money through blogging, i do not have any other sources of income.
I didn't file any tax returns for fy 2016-17 since my earnings are below taxable limit. But for current fy 2017-18 i earned around 8 lakhs. How much tax should i pay and can i file ITR 4s under presumptive taxation scheme?

In my opinion, you should not opt for presumptive taxation. You should maintain proper accounts and pay taxes on profit.

Because, at the first place it is very subjective as to who can avail benefit of section 44ADA.

Please feel free to call in case you want to discuss in detail.

Thanks and regards

Hello,

You cannot file ITR 4S.

2. The approx amount of tax payable on a net income without considering any expenses or investments will be Rs.85,000/-.

Trust this clarifies your query.

Feel free to call / get back in case of further clarifications.

Thanking You.

The income earned by you for the FY 2017-18 is Rs 8 Lakhs - is it for the period from April 2017 to till date or estimated for the whole year?

As this is the income earned for the FY 2017-18, the relevant assessment year is 2018-19 and the due date for the filing of your Income Tax return is 31st July 2018. You need to pay, however, advance tax in 4 installments in June, September, December 2017 and March 2018 by estimating our tax liability.

If your income is more than Rs. 25 Lakhs but less than Rs. 50 Lakhs, you can opt for presumptive tax, if your blog writing comes under specified professions. As of now, I don't think it is covered under presumptive taxation. If your gross receipts are more than Rs 25 Lakhs, you will be liable for tax audit. So please keep your records straight.

As the regards the tax liability, it will be around Rs. 75K. In all probability, you may be having TDS also to the extent of about Rs 80,000/-. In such case, there is no need for payment of advance tax by you.

Hello,

You are not eligible to file ITR under presumptive scheme. You will have to prepare your Profit N Loss and then file your ITR.
