First you have to check your 26AS of AY 2012-13 to check tax shown or not,

after that contact your jurisdictional A.O. with Challan Copy, 26AS copy, A.O. rectify mistake/issues due to which Tax benefit not given to you.

Hi,

Request you to kindly email the Intimation u/s 143(1) for AY 2012-13 to pradeep@capradeepbhat.com so as to get an idea about the demand. It wouldn't be right on my part to advise anything without actually looking into the cause for the Demand.

Do not blindly accept the Demand. If you feel the Demand is not correct, you can always apply for Rectification of the Order u/s 154 or file an Appeal with jurisdictional CIT (A)

Dear Mr. Srinivasan,

Thanks for sending the details of Outstanding Tax demand. Prima facie, it looks like the Advance Tax paid by you is not reflecting under Prepaid Taxes.

Request you to send the Form 26AS for AY 2012-13 and the Intimation u/s 143(1). You would have received the same from the email ID intimations@cpc.gov.in.

If you are unable to find the same in your email records, you can request for Intimation u/s 143(1) from your IT Websie Login.

After logging in, click on My Account - Request for Intimation u/s 143(1)/154

Select AY 2012-13 and Category Intimation u/s 143(1).

You will receive an email with Intimation u/s 143(1) to your registered email ID in a few days (Usually 2-3 working days). Kindly forward the same to my email ID once you receive the same.

It appears that the advance tax payment is not reflected in your 26AS. If so, pl check if your PAN is mentioned correctly by you. If PAN is correctly mentioned, it is possible that the bank would not have mentioned correct PAN in its ETDS return. If so, you need to request your bank to file rectification of ETDS return.
