• HRA allowance

Dear sir/Madam,

This is with regards to the IT declaration for the FY 2016-17.

In my company, I have been exempted from HRA of 3000/- every month. For additional amount of HRA need to submit the rent receipt as a proof.

Whether house owner will be able to give rent receipt for the same and if not submitting the receipts for proofs what will be the percentage of tax deduction for HRA.

Request to kindly clarify the above mentioned points

Dear Sir/Madam,

If you are paying rent to your landlord, he will notind signing the rent receipts.

You can prepare rent receipts and get it signed from your landlord.

Further, don't worry even if you don't have rent Receipts but you have agreement with the land Lord and proof of payment. Even if your employer does not consider HRA taxfree, you can claim it in return. But make sure to take HRA from your employer even if it is taxable.

Tds will be deducted after considering your all the income

Please feel free to call/ revert in case of any doubts

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

You can claim HRA Exemption only if you provide the Rent Receipts. Some employers may accept the Rental Agreement if the Owner is not giving Rent Receipts.

Note: New Form 12BB has been introduced w.e.f 1-Jun-2016 for claiming any Deductions from Salary. PAN of the House Owner is mandatory if the rent paid exceeds Rs. 1 Lakh in the Financial year 2016-17

Good Morning

Non submitting of HRA proof means HRA is now Taxable and Taxes applicable as per IT Slab rates

No specific rates for this calculation

In HRA if you paid rent equal to or more than Rs 100000 than you have to submit PAN of Landlpard other wise Rent Receips is sufficient

Hello Sir,

If your landlord is taking rent from you, why shouldn't he provide you with a receipt. The max he may say is, he does not have a format. You may provide one to him from the net.

The percentage of tax will depend on your tax slab.

Trust this clarifies your query.

Feel free to call / get back in case of further clarifications.

Thanking You.

Receipt is not mandatory for rent upto Rs. 3,000/- p.m. It is the responsibility of the employer to obtain proper evidences and deduct tax salary after allowing all deductions, as permitted. Hence, you should furnish rent receipt to the employer for claiming HRA exemption.

As your house owner will not be able to give receipt for the actual rent, you may declare to your employer that your rent is Rs. 3,000/- p.m.only and claim exemption on this basis.

However, if the rent is more than Rs 1 L p.a, or Rs. 8,333/- p.m, it is mandatory for you to give the details of PAN of your landlord.

It is advisable to pay rent by cheque/NEFT to have evidence for payment of rent.
