• Demand notification

During online itr for ay 14-15, i have deposited online/net banking advance tax computed for @ rs.14,000.00 vide bank challan dated 23-07-14. however this was inadvertently deposited under major head 0024 instead of 0021. now it is raising demand notice for the paid amount.

please help to resolve this issue. can i claim return of the tax paid under wrong head - how?

for above mentioned issue you have to visit income tax office and submit a request letter with challan copy and 26AS copy for correction of Challan data.

Hi,

Are you sure you mentioned major head as 0024? That is for Interest Tax. Looks like you used Challan ITNS 282 instead of ITNS 280.

You can resolve the issue by applying for Challan Correction with jurisdictional AO. Request you to contact a CA in your area.

You can approach your concerned jurisdictional Income Tax Officer or computer centre in your Income tax Office. This can be rectified. There is no major issue in this.
