Dear Sir,

Yes, you are required to pay income tax. There is no such exemption in the income tax.

No not like that . Income tax is payable on the income and teaching is not exempted.

Hello,

Art, Culture and sports are in the negative list of Service Tax and not Income tax. As you are teaching music you are not liable to collect service tax. But there is no such exemption in the income tax. Hence whatever is your income shall be taxed according to the Rules of Income Tax Act .

Thanks & Regards

Sir,

That negative list is for service tax and not for the income tax. So Service Tax is not applicable on your income but income tax shall be applicable.

Hello Sir,

I think you are getting confused between Income Tax & Service Tax. What you are talking about i.e Negative List is in Service Tax whereas what you are talking about is Income Tax.

So there is no such exemption in Income Tax and you are very well liable for Income Tax.

Trust this clarifies your query.

Feel free to call / get back in case of further clarifications.

Thanking You.

Hi,

Looks like you are confused with Negative List of Service Tax and Income Tax.

Teaching art, music etc is in not liable for Service Tax. But there is no such exemption in Income Tax.

This means, you are liable to pay Income Tax on the income from Teaching. However, you need not collect Service Tax on such income.

Hope this clarifies your query.
